Exclusive special bottlings
Some things cannot be planned! 2016 was an extraordinary year for red wines, and so we decided to make a solo presentation of three special grape varieties. The years passed, and in 2021, the year of our 25th anniversary, the time was ripe to raise the curtain on these wines.

Tatzenschroat
Cabernet Sauvignon is the last of the varieties we harvest; its powerful tannins need time to become really fine-grained.
After three years of bottle aging, the Tatzenschroat presents with currant and blackberry, as well as tobacco and leather. On the palate, a voluminous but also vertical structure, smooth and with plenty of fruit on the finish. The wine can be left to mature for another five to ten years, probably longer.
Kreuzleiten
Petit Verdot ripens late, but the berries have very delicate skins. 2016 was a perfect year for ripe aromas and thick, crisp skins.
Ripe fruit aromas of plum, blueberry and elderberry, dense tannins on the palate, yet delicate, with a cool freshness of juniper and floral aromas on the finish. In spite of the three years spent in the bottle, the wine is still in the early stages of development and will need several more years to show its full potential. It should not be opened before 2025; by 2030 it will be at its best.
Panholzer
In terms of flavor, the maturity of the Syrah grapes were unique. They also had thick crisp skins. In that degree of perfection, this is a rare combination in our climate zone.
This wine is not simply a Syrah, and not a Shiraz, either. Perhaps it is both – with the pure fruit of currant and black cherry on the one hand, and the profound spiciness of white pepper and olive paste on the other. On the palate velvety and soft, with present tannins only on the mid-palate. After three years of bottle aging, the wine is certainly ready to drink, but it also has the potential for at least five more years of development.
The three special bottlings are available exclusively in our winery shop and to members of our Wine Club.
