Manincor’s white wines - an overview

Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg

Manincor goes its own way and always has done. This also applies to our varieties, which we select with great care for the individual sites. As a result, our white wine family differs from the classic range of Alto Adige varieties.

Our white wine sites are located in Terlano and Caldaro. The traditional Terlano whites are Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. These three varieties go into the cuvée called Terlaner, which is emblematic of the village of Terlano.

Réserve della Contessa is our classic Terlano wine and a cuvée of these three varieties. Our Eichhorn Pinot Blanc bears the name of the single site in Terlano where we cultivate it. Our Sauvignon Blanc is named after the Tannenberg family, from whom we inherited the estate in Terlano. Sophie, as full of character as my dear wife Sophie, is a Chardonnay (with small amounts of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc) and the white wine with which we have gathered the most experience in the aging process.

Our Liebenaich Grand Cru is a Sauvignon Blanc from the premium site of the same name. The Liebenaich manor house is situated high above Terlano and is where my mother was born.
La Manina – a cuvée similar to the Réserve della Contessa – serves as a refreshing, fruity introduction to our white wine range.

Our Moscato Giallo, a dry muscat of rare elegance and a wonderful accompaniment to food, comes from our warmer sites on Lake Caldaro.
In a class of its own is Le Petit, Manincor’s sweet wine made from 100% Petit Manseng. The grapes are not harvested until February, by which time they are dehydrated with high levels of sugar and acidity. A fine example of a Spätlese late harvest wine, with the aromatic intensity, finesse and quaffability of a very special sweet wine.
